Equipped with a new panel design featuring LED faders, the Nord Grand 2 offers intuitive and easy-to-use performance controls. Each layer of the keyboard has dedicated LED faders, along with knobs and buttons for essential functions required during live performances. Whether you need to create layers and splits, add effects, or transpose the instrument, these tasks can be executed instantly.
Layering and splitting
The dual Piano and Synth engines of the Nord Grand 2 can be combined in a layer or split across the keyboard to expand your musical possibilities. Each layer comes with its own dedicated effects section, enabling you to shape and customize your sound to suit your musical vision. Additionally, the Nord Grand 2 offers 7 split points with LED lights, ensuring smooth transitions between two split zones. You can choose from three different crossfade widths, indicated by different LED colours, to further enhance your performance.
Piano section
The Nord Grand 2 includes an extensive collection of Grands, Uprights, and Electric Pianos from the exclusive Nord Piano Library. This collection is complemented by new features such as Dynamic Compression and Unison, which enhance the expressiveness and realism of the instrument.
Utilising state-of-the-art sampling techniques, the Nord Grand 2 captures the nuances and unique character of each sampled instrument, delivering an authentic playing experience. The Advanced String Resonance and Dynamic Pedal Noise features further contribute to the realism, providing stunning string resonance and lifelike pedal noises.
With a large collection of Uprights, Grands, Electric Pianos, and more, the Nord Grand 2 gives you a wide range of sounds to choose from. The addition of Dynamic Compression and Unison allows for enhanced dynamic control and rich ensemble-like sounds. The Creative Timbre option gives you the flexibility to experiment and shape the tone of your sound.
Sample synth section
The Nord Grand 2 boasts two independent Sample Synths with expanded memory, offering a diverse range of new and updated sounds. From wind, brass, strings, and basses to classic analog leads and basses, the Nord Grand 2 covers a wide sonic territory. It also includes a selection of samples from the Symphobia and Swing libraries by ProjectSAM.
The Sample Synth section provides two fully-featured and independent Layers, each equipped with intuitive controls for attack, decay/release, and dynamic velocity response. The Soft and Bright settings enable you to quickly shape the tone of the sound to suit your preferences.
Thanks to the Grand 2 Sample synth engine, you can now enjoy new features such as Unison, which combines multiple sample voices for rich ensemble-like sounds. The "Tru-Vibrato" accurately models the unique vibrato characteristics of various wind, brass, and string instruments, while the round robin functionality adds natural-sounding fast repetitions. Vibrato can be controlled via button, pedal, or the preset delay setting. The Sample Synth section also includes Mono and Legato modes with adjustable Glide rate, providing further control over your sound.
Effect section
The Nord Grand 2 features a powerful new effect section per Layer. The extensive range of effects includes brand new types of Reverb, Delay, Amps, and Modulation effects. With a dedicated effect section per Layer, you can easily enhance and shape your sound to your liking. The modulation effects come with adjustable Rate and Amount, allowing you to fine-tune your sound further.
Additionally, the Nord Grand 2 offers a Global Reverb with send per Layer, Pre-Delay, Chorale, and Bright/Dark mode. New Spring, Booth, and Cathedral Reverbs offer different sonic environments to suit your musical style. The improved Delay now includes Filter, Flam, and Ping-Pong options, enabling you to add depth and dimension to your sound. Furthermore, the Compressor and Amp with Tone variations complete the effect section, providing a wide range of options to craft your desired sound.
