From Creation to Real-time Immersive Delivery Empowering artists, sound-designers and sound-engineers virtually unlimited possibilities to design, create and mix an outstanding real-time immersive experience.
From decades of groundbreaking research at IRCAM Spat Revolution is the result of a successful partnership between Flux:: engineering and the French research institute IRCAM (Institute for Research and Coordination in Acoustics/Music), created to make decades of groundbreaking research performed at IRCAM available to the world in a format adapted for the workflow in the digital music and audio industry.
SPAT REVOLUTION – A living organism With the diversity of the SPAT Revolution, so many different scopes for using it, and with so many users already expressing their different needs and requesting features, it has already become like a living organism. The decision to release the software, does not mean that this is it, this is what you get and that’s it. Au contraire, we already have a long list of features and updates in development, and the team working on the software will stay busy for an unforeseeable future moving the SPAT Revolution project forward.
Spatialization, Sources and Room Simulation The incoming audio signal is assigned to a practically unrestricted number of source objects, with the only actual limitation set by the computer hardware specifications. Each source object is attributed with an extensive set of parameters controlling all aspects of the source in the space including; position, barycentric, radiation as well as perceptual factors such as presence, warmth, brilliance.
The source objects appears in a virtual room, and may also be assigned to multiple virtual rooms, with different acoustic simulations and multiple different output destinations.
Choose your audio interface with low latency options Spat Revolution is designed for real-time processing and supports standard ASIO and Core Audio audio-interfaces, with low latency options, for easy integration with already existing workflows and workstation setups.
Binaural audio for Artist Monitoring and Audience Experience Spat Revolution’s powerful object based structure provides the ability to render several different output formats in parallel, including Binaural encoding.
While mixing for a multichannel speaker setup, artist monitoring and an additional audience experience using headphones, with a Binaural representation of the mix, is only a button away.
DAW and Remote Integration DAW integration for control and automation of Sources, Rooms and Masters using a set of standard plug-ins; Send, Return and Room (AAX, AU, VST) supporting local and network communication between the DAW and Spat Revolution.
Remote integration using control devices, remote control software, trajectory software and digital mixing consoles over network, through the Open Sound Control (OSC) protocol.
Setup Wizard & Integration Templates Setup with ease for Live Production and Immersive Creations with a Setup Wizard helping you to build any kind of session from scratch, drag and drop connect and move support of modules, input bulk renaming.
Use the integration templates for DAW, Live consoles or Pro Tools track presets to ease your object-based mixing workflow and thanks to the unique ReaVolution Reaper integration immersive creation complexity is a thing of the past.
Virtual Room Concept In Spat Revolution the source objects are spatialized inside virtual rooms with internal spatial positioning, panning, reverberation and output format taken into consideration when calculating movement and position inside the room. The idea is that by simulating speaker positions and acoustic interactions, the process of mixing for a particular speaker layout becomes more predictable.
For example, by monitoring binaurally a scene from a channel based room, it is possible to get an impression as to how the mix might sound diffused by a particular speaker arrangement (including the space between speakers and gain characteristics belonging to selected panning types).
In order to encompass various different workflow ideas or experimental approaches, several different rooms can be created and used simultaneously in parallel, with individual independent formats including; Channel Based, Binaural, High Order Ambisonic (HOA), B-Format and Mid Side.
Multiple Input and Output Transcoders SPAT Revolution mixes, reverberates, and spatializes audio from many types of microphones, arrays, HOA captures, and from any type of pre-produced stems.
Supporting a vast range of input stream formats, Transcoder modules may modify the channel count of the stream passing through it, depending on the format transfer being requested.
For example, transcoding from Ambisonic B-Format into a Channel Based 3D Cube involves a four-channel Ambisonic stream getting transcoded into an eight-channel stream grouped and treated as a specific speaker configuration.
Managing your speaker arrangements Create and modify all standard or custom speaker arrangements with offset, mirror, scale, and many more speaker configuration transformations. Export from simulation software and import your speaker arrangement configurations inside Spat Revolution, or simply import from Excel data.
The most wanted Panning methods and Spatialization techniques A range of various different panning techniques, including panning techniques for working with audiences in wide areas not confined to traditional sweet spots for live and installation setups.
Use alternative panning with Layer Based Amplitude panning (LBAP) and Dual Band Vector Based Panning (DualBandVBP) with channel-based systems, Create headphone mixes with; Binaural panning with NearField, Snowman Model, and Spherical Head Model option and use acoustic simulation presets inside the virtual room to bring a sense of reality to your audience.
