Key Info
Award-Winning Toplogy
The Cranborne Audio Camden EC2 is the perfect centre piece for any professional or home studio. The two-channel design features award-winning Camden 500 preamp topology based on the Camden 500 preamp and signal processor. The EC2 combines the best of both worlds, housing the premium-grade preamp circuitry within this 19” chassis.
Two discrete Camden preamp circuits are included, as well as the custom Mojo analog saturation circuit for tonal shaping. The EC2 delivers ultra low-noise and low-distortion performance, with an extended frequency range, capturing every nuance of your input sources. Dedicated Mic, Line and Instrument modes are available, allowing the preamp to perform in stereo /dual-mono micing setups.
Custom Mojo Analog Saturation Circuit
Critically acclaimed analog saturation circuit. One of the most unique features of the EC2 is the integrated, custom saturation circuit. This one-of-a-kind saturation circuit can be used for tonal shaping. It features a three-position switch that you can use to toggle between Thump, Clean and Natural presets.
The presets can be used to change the overall tonality of the preamp. For instance, using the Thump setting, you can turn the EC2 into a British-style transformer-based preamp. The Cream settings emulates a gooey tube-based preamp and the Natural setting bypasses the Mojo circuit altogether.
Advanced Tracking with Two Headphone Amps
Two integrated headphone amplifier provide superior monitoring and tracking abilities. The two headphones amps provide reference-grade audio fidelity. The zero-latency performance allows you to hear your music in real-time. You can even use the headphone amps to create a analog monitor mix, combing the preamps with playback incoming from an external source, via the EC2s rear panel AUX inputs.
C.A.S.T. System
The EC2 employs Cranborne Audio’s unique C.A.S.T. system, allowing you to distribute audio around the studio or on stage using affordable cabling. The C.A.S.T. system helps to streamline your connectivity to C.A.S.T. enabled equipment and expand your connectivity options.
For example, if you are using the Cranborne Audio 500R8 or 500ADAT you connect the EC2 to the C.A.S.T. input connectors and receive the preamps directly at the interface’s inputs. This allows you to further process and/or record.
The Camden EC2 features two C.A.S.T. ports, with the second allowing you to relocate its rear panel into a remote location such as a vocal booth or live room, using the Cranborne Audio’s passive N22 breakout box or the N22h headphone amp.
Robust Construction, Versatile Connectivity
The robust and rack-mountable design can easily withstand the rigors of live or studio use. The compact 19U chassis makes it the perfect centre-piece for any studio setup. The preamp also offers a wide variety of I/O available, allowing you to use the interface with a range of external devices. Dedicated XLR outputs are included as well as impedance balanced ¼-inch jack outputs. TRS connections can be used for connecting external hardware or link outputs when using the EC2 as an instrument preamp.
