This is a compressor plug-in that recreates the classic 'New York style' parallel compression.

A small solution for a big sound. I Heart NY was our first plugin. It replicates the classic “New York style” parallel compression trick. A technique where you create a duplicate of your audio and process it with heavy compression, EQ and a touch of non-linear magic — before blending it with your dry track. I Heart NY does all this in a plugin, no extra busses needed.

The ‘New York Compression Trick’ was originally cultivated by mixers in some of NY’s famous recording studios (hence the name). It’s a particularly aggressive style of parallel compression, which we’ve done our best to capture with I Heart NY. We’ve since released a big brother - Parallel Aggressor - which offers everything I Heart NY does and more.

Under the hood. The ‘Spank’ knob may look basic on the surface. But it controls a complex algorithm developed to fire-up whatever you throw at it. ‘Spank’ offers a mix of punchy, yet transparent, high-ratio compression, a bit of EQ and an adaptive low-end preservation filter for extra fullness. The signal flow has been designed to add its own unique flavor to your tracks, bringing together qualities from both analog and digital compressors. Whether you want to recreate the thunderous drum sound of 1990s rock bangers - a ‘NYC Compression’ favorite! - or bring your pop vocals all the way to the front, the ‘Spank’ knob has got you covered.
