With Symphobia you have at your disposal a proven tool of inspiration for scoring films, games and television. Symphobia offers true ensemble recordings of a full symphony orchestra and an unbeatable collection of intense, cinematic orchestral effects.

True ensemble recordings Symphobia is not your traditional orchestral sample library. Instead of focusing on individual multi-samples, Symphobia offers ensemble multi-samples in numerous arrangements for orchestral sections as well as a full orchestra performing together. The reason is simple: the real thing sounds so much more powerful.

Cinematic orchestral effects Symphobia is famous for its cinematic orchestral effects. Like the ensemble performances, the effects are available in different orchestrations, performed by different sections from the orchestra. You’ll find full orchestra rips & hits, string risers, brass clusters and woodwind textures.

Key features

  • Live recordings of orchestral full-ensemble multi-samples
  • Vast library of orchestral clusters, rips and other instantly inspiring effects
  • Covering strings, all-new brass, woodwinds and much more
  • Lots of additional content including Dystopia II and ethnic flute phrases
  • Orchestral sections recorded as ensembles, pre-seated on the stage
  • 16 GB library in Kontakt’s compressed sample format (32 GB uncompressed)
  • 44.1 24 bit audio format
  • Genuine concert hall recordings
  • Real-time mixing of close & stage mics
  • Kontakt Player 5 license included
  • Native Kontrol Standard support

Symphobia 2 Massive amounts of fresh and inspiring symphonic effects, all-new orchestral articulations and real legato ensembles.

Discover the fully updated 1.6 Editions of the orchestral library series that forever changed the film scoring game: The Symphobia Series.

Symphobia 2 is the acclaimed sequel to the original Symphobia. All-new orchestral effects, massive amounts of fresh and inspiring symphonic effects, exclusive legato ensembles with real legato transitions, Dystopia III and a brand-new interface. Symphobia 2 is the new no-brainer addition to the Symphobia series for any film, game or TV composer.

Symphobia 2 does not include Symphobia 1. Both libraries are unique products with exclusive content.

Expanding the Symphobia concept If you own the original Symphobia, Symphobia 2 will greatly expand your possibilities. To name a few, the Symphobia 2 string section adds minor and major DXF trills, different lengths of crescendo-decrescendo, new crescendos and new spiccatos. If you liked the effects in the original Symphobia, you are going to love the ones in Symphobia 2! Having covered the basics, we could explore the world of orchestral effects further and look for interesting new sounds and more specific techniques. Symphobia 2 also offers real legato transitions for orchestrated sets of instruments. Various differently arranged ensembles were captured performing legato intervals, playing in unison or octaves, and were meticulously edited and scripted.

Symphobia 3: Lumina Featuring full orchestra, choir, smaller ensembles and a wide range of guest instruments, Symphobia 3: Lumina dives into the world of fantasy, mystery and fairy tales.

Discover the fully updated 1.6 Editions of the orchestral library series that forever changed the film scoring game: The Symphobia Series. With Symphobia 1 and Symphobia 2, ProjectSAM explored the heavier side of orchestra to help you thrill directors and audiences around the world.

Now, a new story unfolds…

Featuring full orchestra, choir, smaller ensembles and a wide range of guest instruments, Symphobia 3: Lumina dives into the world of fantasy, mystery and animation, adding depth and delicacy to your musical palette. Based on more recordings than ever before, this third volume in the Symphobia series is ProjectSAM’s most ambitious release yet.

ProjectSAM is well-known for its ensemble recording concept, and Lumina trumps this with even finer arrangements. The warmth and beauty of orchestra and choir performing together has been captured in stunning, playable ensembles. Moreover, Lumina is packed with superbly orchestrated textures covering the full spectrum of fantasy and mystery. Refined with grand piano, harp and percussion, these recordings are truly luminous. Lumina’s solo and guest instruments range from legato woodwinds, such as oboe and clarinet, to a beautifully sampled celtic harp, tin whistle and… a full bell tower! The library also pays homage to the playful world of cartoons with dedicated ensembles and phrases for careful tiptoeing and tongue-in-cheek suspense. Of course you will find ProjectSAM’s popular Dystopia section, too, with all-new sound design based on the library’s samples.

Lumina is a journey of inspiration… as for each note you play, three more will spring to mind.

Storytelling Multis are a much cherished feature of the Symphobia series. Symphobia 3: Lumina builds on this concept by combining ensembles and instruments into thematic ‘Stories’.

Using clever keyboard mapping and controller assignments, Stories give you numerous musical features on one keyboard − all within a single Kontakt track. In this way, the library’s ensembles, solo instruments and textures all take part in a bigger Story.

Elements within a Story can be individually purged from RAM, or instantly muted using assigned mute keys. Also, the Elements tab allows you to tweak each element separately.

Stories are great sources of inspiration, and useful starting points for a new track or arrangement. Because of the many different musical elements and well-thoughout controllers, they work great for live situations too, such as a theater show or songwriter performance.

Section splits for textures We booked new recording sessions to record individual sections for the library’s textures, worth 7 GB of new samples. In SYMPHOBIA 3: LUMINA 1.1, the majority of orchestral textures now offer the ability to perform the following sections individually: strings, choir, woodwinds, piano/harp/percussion. The exact sections available differ per texture instrument.

S4 Pandora

Full features, essential content

Give your action, sci-fi, and horror scores a blockbuster boost with the fourth volume in ProjectSAM’s acclaimed Symphobia Series. Symphobia 4: Pandora Core lets you summon rousing cinematic risers, foreboding falls, and earth-shattering crescendos with unmatched ease and flexibility.

TENSION AND DRAMA – FROM THE DARK SIDE Give your action, sci-fi, and horror scores a blockbuster boost with the fourth volume in ProjectSAM’s acclaimed Symphobia Series. Pandora lets you summon rousing cinematic risers, foreboding falls, and earth-shattering crescendos with unmatched ease and flexibility. Pandora’s innovative Adaptive Sync quickly and effortlessly matches its huge library of articulations and effects with your sequence – so your next deadline needn’t be a nightmare. Plus, fully-customizable sound design tools help you quickly sculpt your desired timbres.

INTRODUCING ADAPTIVE SYNC Pre-recorded crescendos and rolls sound great. But they used to have a disadvantage: they were not very flexible. Any composer will recognize the trial-and-error process of nudging a crescendo note around until it ends in the right spot. It’s a tedious task that most of us would rather skip if we could.

Symphobia 4: Pandora Core is packed with transitional samples – sounds that progress dynamically or directionally over time – ranging from powerful brass crescendos to dissonant string risers. These samples all have one thing in common: a distinct, musical ending or climax.

With Adaptive Sync, you can simply set the number of beats or seconds you need the crescendo, roll or riser to be. Tapping from a vast pool, Adaptive Sync automatically picks the best matching recording from its database and intelligently adjusts it to match your hit point exactly. Similarly, you can very quickly time a crescendo or roll with the next downbeat. If you move a note backwards or forward, the engine will automatically switch to a better matching recording if needed. If you change your track’s tempo, Adaptive Sync will adjust accordingly.

BOLD ARTICULATIONS & HAUNTING EFFECTS Symphobia 4: Pandora Core offers a vast selection of big & bold, playable ensemble articulations, ranging from cellos and basses to a massive 30-player low-range Tutti Orchestra. For all crescendos and swells in there, Adaptive Sync is ready to assist.

The articulations have all been selected and recorded to add unprecedented oomph to your existing orchestral template. Symphobia 4: Pandora Core is the ultimate cinematic finishing touch.

A selection of the instruments offers exciting, optional sound layers that can be mixed in with the main articulation on-the-fly. For example, the Tutti Orchestra crescendo instrument displays controls for quickly adding gran cassa, timpani and cymbal rolls. Similarly, you can quickly add a sub sweetener to the bass drum and tutti percussion instruments.

The Symphobia Series has always been the go-to place for orchestral effects. For Pandora Core, many a bone was chilled during the effects sessions. The library packs more orchestrated effects than ever, ranging from eerie violin textures to loud brass stabs. And with Adaptive Sync and Sound Design Mode, the recorded effects are now more flexible and customizable than ever. For thriller, horror and sci-fi scoring, Symphobia 4: Pandora Core is an absolute must-have.

Pandora Core’s dedicated Effects Module in combination with its Sound Design Mode gives you the power to turn any orchestral sound completely upside down, creating dark soundscapes and ominous textures utilizing the synchronized stutter, pitch envelope and other tailored effects.

SOUND DESIGN MODE Clicking the triangle icon activates Sound Design Mode. This allows you to directly manipulate a selection of the mapped samples and highly customize your preset using the waveform control. You can jump-start sample positions, reverse playback, reverse sync to downbeat, time-stretch and more. These features are available even for instruments that use disk streaming by default. We keep building on the foundation of Sound Design Mode in future library updates.

PULSES Symphobia 4: Pandora Core features both Cluster Pulses and Tonal Pulses.

Cluster Pulses are idiomatic note combinations that add instant cinematic drive to your track. Each key holds a different recorded cluster of notes for the strings, brass and woodwind sections. Tonal Pulses are available for a mixed low and mid strings section. The Tonal Pulses offer additional, synchronized synth layers that can be mixed in with the orchestral pulse on-the-fly.

All pulses have been recorded in 4ths, 8ths and 16ths repetitions. The Pandora Core interface allows you to switch mid-pattern, with synchronization completely intact.

RISERS No cinematic library is complete without a solid collection of tension-building string risers. For Pandora Core, multiple recording sessions were dedicated solely to this, covering lengths from 2 to 15 seconds in different playing techniques and dynamic arcs, including arco, accelerating staccatos, harmonics and sul ponticello tremolo. Here too, matching up the risers with your sequence is a breeze thanks to Adaptive Sync.

You can use the orchestral risers in their original form, or give them the trailer treatment by adding an idiomatic, accelerating stutter effect and some saturation using Pandora Core’s Effects Module. A number of Snapshots are included as inspiring examples. Pandora Core also includes a set of suspenseful string downers.

COMBOS Mind your volume!

Combining the library’s individual articulations, effects, pulses and percussion, Pandora Core’s Combos hold some of the biggest orchestral ensembles you’ve heard yet. All elements inside a Combo are able to directly communicate with one another, allowing for musical wizardry such as the on-the-fly aligning of a col legno hit to a brass crescendo’s climax. Or a big tutti diminuendo at the end of a riser.

Combos featuring multiple Adaptive Sync instruments allow you to set the length and timing of the entire ensemble with a single set of controls.
