Key Info

Boss VE-500 is a Vocal Performer Effects Pedal

Stay in-Tune with your Guitar and Create Stunning Harmonies

Powered by Boss' advanced processing, the VE-500’s automatic harmony engine can detect the chords and key you play on your guitar. This generates smooth and natural two/three-part harmonies in real time as you sing. You can also select different harmony modes, providing further options for refining the harmonies to suit songs with more complex key structures.

The harmony engine can alternately be driven via MIDI (through either the VE-500’s MIDI or USB inputs). This lets you generate pitch-perfect live harmonies with a MIDI keyboard or DAW-based backing tracks.

The VE-500 also features a dedicated pitch correction section driven via guitar or MIDI - just like the harmony function. It can be used for transparent pitch stabilisation or replicating heavily effected sounds heard on modern hits. This can be anything from hard pitch correction, to electronic tonalities, and even robot-voice sounds.

Turn your Voice into a Powerful Instrument

Inside the VE-500, you have access to a wide range of effects for crafting nearly any vocal sound imaginable. Included are compressor, EQ, and de-esser tools for shaping your core vocal tone. Plus, world-class reverb, delay, and modulation sounds, along with specialty effects like distortion, filtering, and many others.

Up to nine effect sections can be used simultaneously, with flexible routing options for processing live and harmonized vocals together or separately. You also have access to a dedicated looper. This is perfect for layering your vocals for extra depth or creating your own backing vocals.

The VE-500 also features a creative and inspiring vocoder function. By vocalising into the mic as you play, you can instantly transform your guitar’s tone with synthesised electronic voices. It’s also possible to replicate traditional talk box sounds, providing access to classic “talking lead guitar” tones without having to use a talk box rig and mouth tube.

Excellent Vocal Control in an Easy-to-Use Setup

The large display and panel controls make it simple to create and call up sounds on-the-fly. After you’ve dialled in the perfect setup, simply save it to one of the 99 user patch locations and you can then instant recall it while performing. Editor/librarian software is also available, letting you tweak and organise sounds from your Mac or PC.

The VE-500's three panel knobs can also be assigned to favourite parameters, providing on-the-go tweaks in the heat of the moment. Its three integrated footswitches offer access to a multitude of functions, including patch selection, individual effects on/off, harmony and looper functions, and more. Expanded control is also possible with external footswitches, an expression pedal, or MIDI.
