I mix in a small corner of my dining room (not ideal, but needs must) and these speakers sound great! Not too much bass, but still nice and tight. Not too much HF, but still sparkly. I can hear things on these that I was missing on my headphones. Volume is more than adequate for me and I have them set to approximately half way. If I turn them up near full they are too loud to think! I sit about 2 feet from them and have them mounted on shelves that brings them to just above my ear level. I am planning on getting isolation pads to raise them at the back slightly and point them down to my sitting position.
After 2 weeks of working with the D5s I don't have a bad thing to say about them. Are there better speakers out there? I would hope so considering the price some of them are!! But for a set up like mine and at a £350 price point I would be surprised if there's much out there could match them. (Posted on 8/4/12)
