The Maschine hardware can be used to control every function and parameter of the Maschine software, providing an incredibly easy and efficient workflow. The controller houses 16 backlit velocity sensitive pads with aftertouch, 11 high-resolution rotary encoders and 41 buttons for direct control of all software functions. The rotary encoders use a proprietary protocol, which provides greater resolution than MIDI for a true analogue feel when working with the Maschine software, and can still transmit MIDI to external hardware units.
Maschine Dual Displays
Two 64 x 256 pixel backlit displays provide instant visual feedback for whatever information is most relevant to the current system status. For instance, users can browse through the sample library on one display, while the other shows the waveform of the file.

The Maschine software is centred on a sequencer, sampler and effects hosting. The sequencer can work in a traditional step-sequenced x0x-style, or a more live beat production MPC-style. Patterns can be arranged as clips, which can then in turn be arranged into Scenes and Songs. The sampler has complex transient detection and beat slicing tools, which enable you to capture and remix existing material quickly. It also comes with a library containing over 6Gb of sounds.
As well as the bank of 22 built-in effects, Maschine can host third party VST or AU plug-ins. Any Native Instruments plug-ins, such as Massive or Guitar Rig are fully integrated into the software, complete with plug-in browsing. Plug-ins can be combined and even controlled directly from the hardware, enabling you to focus on the Maschine without having to reach for the keyboard or mouse.
