Alesis iO2 USB Audio Interface is designed as the ideal Audio/MIDI companion to notebook computer-based recording environments, the iO2 USB has a compact form factor that can easily fit in a laptop case or small backpack. Many units don't offer the real-time hardware monitoring and mix (hardware monitor / USB Audio) capabilities that this Alesis IO2 offers. Check out the other brand's specifications before purchasing. I love it because it's USB powered and includes Cubase LE with good mic pres.Price Features Quality

I had never bought any alesis gear before, but I took the advice of the salesman I spoke to about trying out this io2 unit. All I can say is that, it was really easy to setup and use with my HP laptop and the audio quality is similar if not better than the Edirol UA-25 that it was replacing due to the UA getting covered in beer at a gig which was useful!
